Is the sauna private?
Yes. The private outdoor electric sauna that seats six and the outdoor shower are for your group only. It's ready in about 30 minutes: switch it on about 30 minutes before you want to use it. The whole house is yours, and nobody else is on site.
How many people does the house sleep?
Six: two king bedrooms (one with an ensuite and yard access) and a room with two single beds. There are two bathrooms, with an oversized bath and walk-in showers.
We're a group of four or fewer. Which bedrooms do we get?
1 to 4 guests: two bedrooms open. 5 or 6 guests: all three bedrooms open. The third bedroom can be opened for smaller groups for a small fee; ask us.
"Us" here means Alpine Valley Getaways. Different arrangements apply to stays of five nights or more.
Can we bring our dog?
Two dogs welcome, per AVG's pet policy. A gate at the back of the fully fenced yard opens onto walking tracks in the state forest; dogs are welcome on a lead. Dogs can be inside while you're home; when you go out they come with you. No dogs on furniture, beds or carpet. More about staying with dogs.
Is firewood supplied?
Firewood is supplied from April to September, for the two enclosed wood fires in the living room and the garage lounge.
Can I charge an electric car?
Yes. There is a myenergi EV charger (22 kW three-phase, tethered Type 2 cable) in the front driveway, free for staying guests. The cable is attached to the charger.
How far is the house from town?
12 minutes' walk to the edge of town and the nearest cafés (about 19 to the town centre), 5 to the river.
Is there somewhere to dry wet gear?
Yes. There's a drying room set-up in the laundry: a 10 L/day desiccant dehumidifier, two drying racks and a boot and glove dryer, so anything wet is dry by morning — snow gear, riding kit, walking boots, dog towels or a rainy week's washing. The laundry has a door, so it shuts while the dehumidifier runs, and a desiccant unit keeps drying on cold nights, when a compressor one struggles.
Where do the bikes go?
In the garage, which locks separately from the house and has six wall racks that take mountain bikes and e-bikes. There's a dedicated dedicated bike wash area with a hose, tap, work stand and floor pump, plus bike locks, tools and local trail maps in the garage, and the drying room set-up in the laundry, which dries riding kit or anything else wet overnight. Is the house set up for a baby?
There is a portacot (bring your own cot linen) and a high chair.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is after 3 pm and check-out is before 10 am. You let yourself in with a key safe. Your confirmation from Alpine Valley Getaways has the details for your stay.
Are smoking or parties allowed?
No smoking, and no parties or events.
Are there security cameras?
There are three exterior security cameras: one on the driveway and front entrance, one on the wood pile, and one on the rear fence line facing the bush behind the property. None covers the sauna, outdoor shower, alfresco area, yard seating or any indoor space.
How do I book or ask a question?
